In Marrakech, everyone still says RADEEMA, the name of the city's former water and electricity utility. Since 1 November 2024 the service has been run by SRM Marrakech-Safi (the regional multi-service company), which took over RADEEMA's activity - bills, contracts and branches carry one name or the other depending on their date. Paying a bill needs no help (branch, usual payment points, or online via the Fatourati portal); anything touching the contract does. Whether you are moving in, taking over a flat or leaving, there is a trip to the branch: opening an account, connecting the meter, changing the name on the contract, closing the account or disputing a bill.

What we handle

New account and connection

New home: opening the water and electricity contract in your name and getting the meter switched on.

Name change / transfer

The meter is still in the previous tenant's or the landlord's name, we transfer the contract to yours.

Closing the account

Leaving: final meter reading, contract closure, settling the balance and recovering the deposit where there is one.

Unusual bill

A bill that jumps, an estimated reading, a suspected leak: filing a complaint and following it through.

What to bring

  • identity document and copies (passport and residence card for foreigners);
  • proof that you occupy the property: lease, title deed or a letter from the owner;
  • the previous bill or the former occupant's contract number, very useful to locate the meter;
  • the meter number (photograph it before you go);
  • funds for the connection fee and deposit where applicable.
The habit that saves your morning: photograph the meter (number and reading) and the old bill before going to the branch. That is what is missing most often.

Disputing a water or electricity bill

An unusually high bill usually comes from an estimated reading instead of a real one, a leak after the meter, consumption carried over from the previous occupant, or a faulty meter. The routine is always the same: take the real reading, compare it with the bill, file a written complaint and follow it up. We do that with you and keep a record of each visit.

Utility account, transfer or dispute

File preparation, accompaniment to the RADEEMA branch in Marrakech, follow-up until the meter is connected or your complaint is answered.

This usually comes right after signing the lease, see finding a home in Marrakech. A utility contract in your name also serves as proof of address for your residence permit.

FAQ

How do I open a water and electricity account in Marrakech?

Through the city's water and electricity distributor, SRM Marrakech-Safi, which took over from RADEEMA in November 2024. You need a complete file and a visit to the branch; the meter is connected afterwards. We prepare the file and come to the counter with you.

What is RADEEMA's new name?

Since 1 November 2024, water and electricity in Marrakech have been distributed by SRM Marrakech-Safi (regional multi-service company), which took over RADEEMA's activity. Many residents and documents still use the old name.

Which documents are needed for a RADEEMA account?

Usually an identity document with copies, proof that you occupy the property (lease, title deed or a letter from the owner), the previous bill or the former occupant's contract number, the meter number, and funds for the connection fee and any deposit.

How do I put the meter in my name after moving in?

It is a change of contract holder: you need proof of occupancy in your name, an identity document and the meter or previous bill references. We check what is missing before the trip.

What should I do about an abnormally high water bill?

Take the real meter reading, compare it with the bill, then file a written complaint with the utility and follow it up. Common causes are estimated readings, a leak after the meter, or consumption carried over from the previous occupant.

Do you help with closing an account?

Yes: final reading, contract closure, settling the balance and recovering the deposit where there is one, best done before handing back the keys.
