Residence permit in Morocco: support at the Marrakech prefecture
Application, renewal, document list, the queue: we prepare the file with you and come to the counter, quote on request.

Last updated 27 September 2026
If you stay in Morocco for more than 90 days you must apply for a registration card - what everyone calls the residence permit or carte de séjour. In Marrakech the application is filed at the foreigners' desk of the police prefecture. The file itself is not complicated; what costs you time is knowing exactly which documents to bring, in how many copies, and holding the queue without being turned away over a missing photocopy.
Who needs one
- Any foreigner staying more than three months: retiree, employee, spouse of a Moroccan citizen, student, entrepreneur, remote worker settled in Marrakech.
- The card is generally issued for one year and renewed. After several renewals a longer residence card may be applied for.
- Each set of grounds, employment, retirement, marriage, studies, calls for different supporting documents. That is the first thing we sort out with you.
The documents usually required
- the application form, collected on site;
- your passport plus copies of the identity pages and the latest entry stamp;
- recent passport photos in the required format, bring more than asked;
- proof of address in Marrakech: lease, residence certificate, sometimes a utility bill in your name (see finding a home and RADEEMA utilities);
- proof of income or activity: employment contract and attestation, pension statements, bank certificates;
- civil status certificates depending on your grounds, marriage or birth certificate, translated and legalised (sworn translation);
- the stamps and official fees for the file.
Renewing the card
Renewal is prepared before the card expires, not after. The file mirrors the first application, with the old card and updated supporting documents: a lease still running, current proof of income, current family situation. The classic mistake is leaving it to the last week with an expired lease.
How we work
- We qualify your situation on WhatsApp: nationality, grounds for staying, entry date, family, housing.
- We send you the document list for your case, with the number of copies and what must be translated.
- We check your file before you travel across town.
- We come with you to the prefecture: finding the right desk, the queue, translating, filling in forms.
- We follow up: what is missing, when to come back, when to collect the card.
